Is Thanksgiving Dinner Overrated?
November 28, 2022Feldmann’s Mount Rushmore of Vocalists
December 12, 2022With the mixing of the new album underway; the guys and I sat down for a listening session. Taking notes of all the things we loved, and things we would have loved to change if we had the opportunity to sit in the studio for the First Album. For context; the self-titled album was recorded and mixed during covid. Due to several restrictions and a jarring lineup change, the band wasn’t able to fully experience the mixing process. Now with the veil of ailments and distractions lifted away from our progress; we can now experience the process in full unadulterated stereo.
The most important aspect for me about songwriting is always having layers of music that can give someone an experience. There have been many instances in songwriting where the main goal for me has been to give people an experience and/or translate a message or story through the songwriting process. With the mixing now underway, I’m really excited to see how we are able to take these ideas and written concepts and translate them in the auditory space.
Think of your favorite song. Why was that song important to you? Was it the message? Was it the production value? Was it the sound?
All of these are important questions when trying to calculate how well something fits in an auditory medium. From genre to genre, everyone always has different facets of a story or message that they want to convey. However, one thing is always absolute.
The purpose. The same aforementioned questions were to be deliberated between the members of Ronin over this last weekend.
With the purpose of what we are trying to convey being the leading headline of our discussion. What purpose does our song serve other than to potentially get rich and famous? To connect, tell a story, entertain, and have fun.
To conclude a rambling post. What we have in store with this upcoming album is something that I would not have thought to realize in the last few years of songwriting and performing. The fact that I’m able to be a part of this project with these very talented individuals makes me very proud and confident in what we have to give. From nitpicking on certain aspects of the mix, to getting the solos down without any imperfections. I am hundred percent certain that there is something in this album for everyone.
I cannot wait until this art form is unveiled.
Until then.
Best Regards,
Bojack
